Counselling is a talking therapy that provides a regular space for you to talk about feelings, worries or concerns. It can help you to consider your needs and priorities, and help you to accept things that cannot be changed. Counselling can also enable you to make decisions and find more effective ways of coping, helping you to deal with and overcome issues that you are struggling with, or are making you feel uncomfortable or sad.
Our counsellors won’t usually give advice, but will help you find your own insights into and understanding of your situation.
How We Can Help
Our counsellors listen, respect your views, and never judge. They can help you to:
- deal with low mood or feelings of depression
- deal with feelings of anxiety, helping you worry less about things
- cope with work-related stress including redundancy
- work through the problems associated with domestic violence
- feel more confident and address low self-esteem
- manage strong emotions or anger
- understand yourself and your problems better
Our Adult counsellors are all qualified to Diploma level or beyond, have substantial experience and are skilled in using a diverse range of appropriate therapeutic techniques.
We know that everyone is different. We know that every situation is different. That’s why we give you the space to talk, and to be heard. We work with you to find the best way for you, and those around you, to achieve a happy, fulfilled life, with resilience to face life’s challenges, and confidence to make empowering life decisions.
We pride ourselves on our robust safeguarding procedures to ensure that every person who accesses our services is protected and kept safe.
Making the Most of Therapy
You will be able to make the most of your counselling if you spend some time between sessions thinking further about what it is you have talked about
What to Expect
After registering for an appointment, our appointments team will be in touch to arrange an initial assessment. A counsellor will meet you, work out if counselling is right for you and what you would like to get out of counselling.
Confidentiality
What happens in your counselling sessions is private to you and your counsellor. However, on rare occasions, such as if we are worried about your or someone else’s safety, your counsellor may need to share some information with others.
