Become a Friend of Beacon
We want to live in a society where everyone is able to cope with distress and has the opportunity to enjoy a happy life
Becoming a Friend of Beacon is a simple yet effective way to support our vision and help Beacon be there for more children, young people and adults experiencing mental distress.
Donating to Beacon helps us reach over 2000 adults, children and young people every year.
- It helps keep our core voluntary counselling service service free of charge, ensuring that those financially disadvantaged and unable to otherwise access therapy can be supported with their mental health
- It allows us to deliver and sustain free-to-access targeted community projects to reach and support the most vulnerable children, young people and adults, including therapy for care-leavers, early help intervention for young people and wellbeing groups across schools
- It enables us to recruit and train high quality counsellors to support distress and and trauma within the community
Support our work by becoming a Friend of Beacon with a small monthly donation to help us grow and reach more people to learn the coping skills they need to move on positively with their lives
£5
a month can purchase creative materials to deliver a child’s therapy session
£12.50
a month can fund the overheads to deliver a 6 week course of therapy for someone financially disadvantaged to be supported with their emotional well-being
Why we need your support
There has never been a more important time to focus on mental health. Part of the urgent response for the people of Stockport and surrounding areas, Beacon continues to help around 2000 adults, young people and children with over 12,000 appointments each year to stay mentally well and recovering when mental health suffered.
Beacon’s Voluntary Service is our free counselling service delivered by dedicated volunteer counsellors. It supports the alleviation of poverty for those held back by poor mental health; many of whom are out of work or with a disability.
Our essential free counselling service wouldn’t exist without the kind donations we receive from donors
As we have grown, we are increasingly engaging with people struggling with multiple, complex needs. However, demand for our services has escalated significantly; with our COVID response and recovery work including the development of new support to meet the needs of our community and more than ever, we need financial support to fund this work to help us transform lives. Now, more than ever, we are seeking support towards our core services to help us to continue our response to build resilience within our communities. Your donation can help Beacon shine a light on a brighter future at the darkest of times.
